Molly Nakahara Testifies for Josh
If there are words that can truly testify to the goodness of Josh Fattal, let them come to me now. Josh Fattal is a person cut of the best fabric of this world. Unwavering in his belief in the power of goodness and the limitless energy of joy, he moves forward daily towards a world that is just and sustainable. In my heart, I know that for 552 days, behind walls and on hard ground, he has daily moved forward. As a dear friend, Josh has shown me that at every turn in life, there is an opportunity to learn and an opportunity to reflect and an opportunity to do good. Whether it be helping urban kids with their homework,
planting a garden in a treeless part of a city, sitting in quiet peace for a moment, or sending a well timed letter to a friend in need, Josh does not let his duty to this world fall by the wayside. And yet for Josh, this duty to be full of goodness and love is no burden, it is a gift and a celebration. Josh Fattal is a person cut of the best fabric of this world.
Josh is humble in his good deeds. His efforts to build a more vibrant rural economy and his commitment to environmental stewardship are fueled by his simple belief that all people deserve to live healthy lives. His time spent mentoring students as they studied the impacts of a globalized world and his days learning how to sustainably manage a forest were motivated by his hope for a better way to exist on this planet. Wherever Josh is, he is there with an intention to learn, an intention to ask questions, an intention to listen and an intention to share. He believes that through friendship, community, respectful communication, and shared wisdom, countless new realities are possible.
In the time that I have had the privilege of having Josh Fattal as a friend, he has provided me with the daily example that life is about constantly trying to become your best self. It is an honor to testify on the character of this good man. Josh Fattal, I will always stand beside you as my tallest and best self.
